"I'm a painter of light. The warm glow of sunrise and sunset and moonlit nights inspires much of my work. I create images in brief mental visions. The challenge is in transferring that instant vision to canvas, never knowing for sure how it will come out. My viewing audience refers to my style as surreal." |
"An opportunity to live in Paris, France for six months changed the course of my life. For twenty five years I lived in a Victorian era gold mining town in Northern California and had no intention of living anywhere else. But the overwhelming amount of art, antiquities and architecture I saw in France, Germany, Belgium, and Austria was life changing-- I decided to start a new chapter in life and follow my childhood dream of becoming a working artist. "I always loved to draw since grade school entering national poster contests and winning many awards in art contests. In high school my design was chosen for the yearbook. "After school my personal art was put on hold while co-founding a professional theatre company in 1977 that is still performing today. "When I returned from Paris in 1991 I returned to art school and became a juried member of the Arizona Artists Guild, receiving many awards including an honorable mention by the curator of the Phoenix Art Museum."
